In the pressure-cooker world of New York songwriting, Mara and Charlie are chasing the song that might finally open the right door.
Take 51 follows two young writers inside the machinery of the Brill Building, where ambition, authorship, and the fragile thrill of being heard become impossible to separate.
The title song: a pulse-point for the show’s world of demos, deadlines, and the search for the one take that finally lands.
Synopsis
Inside the Brill Building, songwriter Mara finds creative and emotional connection with Charlie as their partnership begins to take shape. But as their work gains attention, the industry around them starts to reshape their songs — and quietly determine who gets heard.
As success arrives unevenly, Mara is forced to confront the cost of staying inside the system that’s elevating her work while eroding her voice. What began as a shared creative bond becomes a test of authorship, identity, and whether their relationship can survive what the music industry demands.

Writer, composer and lyricist
Ian began his career as a songwriter and musician before moving into film and television, working at Twickenham Film Studios and later as a writer-producer on documentary projects.
He now focuses on writing screenplays and composing original stage work.
